A half day hospital visit at University Hospital Monklands, University Hospital Wishaw or University Hospital Hairmyres can be arranged for S5 and S6 pupils who are looking to apply to medical school.
The visit outline is as follows:
- Welcome to NHS Lanarkshire and Clinical Teaching Fellow team
- Induction information
- Introduction to simulated patient
- Patient journey: from admission to discharge and beyond, patient journey throughout the hospital
- Reflection on learning
- Meet the medical student: find out about learning on clinical placements
These visits are only available during the academic year and must be arranged via the pupil’s school. Schools must confirm the pupil’s intention to study medicine and confirm grades are on track to do so.
